Beko Europe Presents an Update on the Transformation Plan for Its Italian Industrial Operations

  • Investments in Italy Considered at Around 300 million Euros
  • Commitment to Dialogue Reaffirmed to Identify Solutions for Long-Term Sustainability in Italy

January 30, 2025 – Beko Europe participated today in the fourth institutional meeting regarding the Transformation Plan for its Italian industrial operations, held at the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy in Rome. During the meeting, the company reiterated that the transformation plan stems from an in-depth analysis of the structural context in both Italy and Europe. As such, it is essential for achieving an economically and financially sustainable structure in Italy over the medium to long term.

During the meeting, Beko Europe shared an update on the plan originally presented on November 20. Specifically, the company is considering an investment of approximately 300 million euros, one-third of which will be allocated to Research and Development, depending on further discussions and the stability of the company’s operations in Italy.

The company also confirmed that key Research and Development centres will be based in Italy, including Beko's Global Industrial Design Center and the Global Cooking Category Center. Furthermore, it was reaffirmed that Italy will host key European decision-making centres for strategic functions, including human resources, marketing, supply chain, and Information Technology.

Consumer Care activities, the European Spare Parts Center, and the refurbishment centre for used household appliances will continue to operate from Italy.

The strategic importance of manufacturing operations in Italy was also reconfirmed, with a primary focus on built-in cooking and refrigeration.

Additionally, the company emphasized the need to continue improving the efficiency of its Italian operations to further reduce fixed costs, in line with the proposed plan. Beko Europe remains open to evaluating further aspects of the plan, which can be fully assessed once there is clarity on the availability of support measures for workers and the company's ability to lower fixed costs.

Beko Europe reaffirms its commitment to maintaining dialogue with the Government, Social Partners, and Local Institutions in the spirit of constructive collaboration, aiming to identify concrete solutions that will ensure the long-term sustainability of production and operations remaining in Italy and Europe.
